Thunder Trade Lu Dort to Hawks in Three-Team Deal

The Oklahoma City Thunder have finalized a trade sending wing Lu Dort to the Atlanta Hawks as part of a three-team deal, according to reports from ESPN's Shams Charania. In exchange for Dort, the Thunder will receive three second-round draft picks from Atlanta.

This move marks a significant offseason for Oklahoma City, which has now accumulated a total of seven second-round picks through various trades. Previously, the Thunder traded Aaron Wiggins to the Hawks and Isaiah Joe to the Detroit Pistons, netting two second-round picks for each player.

Dort, who has a team option worth $17.7 million, has been recognized as one of the NBA's top perimeter defenders. Instead of allowing him to walk in free agency, Thunder general manager Sam Presti opted to trade him to gain value while also providing Dort an opportunity for a long-term contract with Atlanta.

In addition to the Dort trade, Atlanta is sending guard Ryan Nembhard to the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for former No. 1 overall pick Zaccharie Risacher. This trade aligns with Dallas's previous interest in Risacher during the 2026 trade deadline, although complications prevented a deal at that time.

Since joining the Thunder as an undrafted free agent, Dort has averaged 11.6 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.6 assists over seven seasons, solidifying his reputation as a key defensive asset. He will now join Wiggins in Atlanta, where he is expected to complement the team's defensive strategy alongside Dyson Daniels and Nickeil Alexander-Walker.
