Knicks Sign Moussa Cisse to Two-Year Offer Sheet; Mavericks Have 48 Hours to Respond

The New York Knicks have made a move to strengthen their center position by agreeing to a two-year offer sheet with restricted free agent Moussa Cisse. The deal, reported on Saturday, is contingent upon the Dallas Mavericks' decision to match the offer within 48 hours.

Cisse, who spent his rookie season with the Mavericks, is set to receive a contract that begins at the veteran's minimum of $2.5 million. Notably, the first year of the offer is half guaranteed, while the second year remains non-guaranteed.

The Knicks are in a position where they need to enhance their center depth following the departures of Mitchell Robinson and Ariel Hukporti. Currently, Karl-Anthony Towns is the only center on the roster, although the team recently added veteran Andre Drummond.

Cisse, a product of Memphis, played 38 games last season, averaging 4.5 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks over 19 minutes per game. His addition could be pivotal for the Knicks as they look to solidify their frontcourt.

In addition to Cisse, New York has also been exploring options to further bolster their center position, including interest in Jonas Valanciunas, who has since signed with a EuroLeague team.
