Christo Popov to Face Koki Watanabe in Japan Open Men's Singles Final

In a thrilling semifinal at the Japan Open, France's Christo Popov thwarted Japan's hopes for an all-local final by defeating Kodai Naraoka. Popov's straight-game victory, with scores of 21-14 and 21-11, secured his spot in the men's singles final against Koki Watanabe.

Popov, the fifth seed, showcased his form by previously eliminating top seed Shi Yu Qi from China in the quarterfinals. He maintained control throughout the match against Naraoka, disrupting the Japanese player's rhythm and increasing pressure after winning the first game.

Meanwhile, Japan's Akane Yamaguchi is poised for her fifth Japan Open title after overcoming Indonesia's Putri Kusuma Wardani. After losing the first game, Yamaguchi rebounded to win the next two, showcasing her resilience.

India's Pusarla V. Sindhu reached the women's singles final following a retirement from China's Chen Yu Fei during their semifinal match. Sindhu had previously won a close first game and was leading in the second when Chen withdrew.
