Rockets Overcome Nets 100-83 in Summer League Showdown

In a decisive matchup at the Cox Pavilion, the Houston Rockets secured a 100-83 victory over the Brooklyn Nets, effectively ending Brooklyn's hopes of advancing in the NBA Summer League tournament.

Despite a challenging start, the Nets mounted a late-game effort, narrowing the gap to just 10 points with just over three minutes remaining. Brooklyn's defense improved significantly in the fourth quarter, forcing five turnovers, including an eight-second violation.

Egor Dëmin contributed with a critical step-back jumper that brought the score to 87-77, but the Nets could not close the gap further. Mikel Brown Jr. struggled with his shooting, finishing 3-of-15, while Drake Powell managed only 1-of-6 from the field.

On the other side, the Rockets were led by Bruce Thornton, who scored 23 points, supported by Tristen Newton with 20 points and six rebounds. Isaiah Crawford added 12 points and eight rebounds before being ejected in the fourth quarter.

Following this loss, the Nets will play one final consolation game this weekend, while discussions regarding Michael Porter Jr.'s future with the team are intensifying. Sean Marks has indicated a willingness to negotiate an extension, but if an agreement isn't reached, a trade may be on the horizon.
