Official | Christ Makosso joins Auxerre from Luton Town
2026-07-16AJ Auxerre have completed the signing of Congolese defender Christ Makosso (22), it was confirmed on Wednesday.
Auxerre will once again look to stave off the drop this season and are building a squad to do so. Romain Faivre, notably, has already arrived on loan from AFC Bournemouth and the Bourgogne-based club have also sought to bring in reinforcements at the back.
Makosso, who spent last season on loan at Oxford United from Luton Town, has joined on a permanent deal for an undisclosed fee. L’Équipe understands that the fee for the centre-back is a little over €2m.
L’AJA have not disclosed the length of Makosso’s contract either, although L’Équipe believes that it is a four-year deal. It is a return to France for the Congo international (five caps), who came through the ranks at Sochaux, before then going to play for RWDM in Belgium, Luton Town, and Oxford United.
