Jak Jones Claims First Professional Snooker Title in Championship League

Welsh snooker player Jak Jones has clinched his first professional title, defeating David Gilbert 3-2 in the final of the Championship League. This victory marks a significant milestone for the 32-year-old from Cwmbran, who turned professional in 2010 and has been a consistent presence on the World Snooker Tour since 2016.

Jones, who reached the final of the World Snooker Championship in 2024, ended a lengthy 16-year wait for a ranking title with this win. He expressed his disbelief at the achievement, stating that he felt more nervous during this match than in the world final. Jones highlighted the importance of this win for his family, especially for his wife and son, as well as his parents who have supported him throughout his career.

In the lead-up to the final, Jones showcased his skills by defeating Hossein Vafaei and fellow Welshman Dylan Emery, along with a draw against Zhang Anda from China. His triumph in Leicester not only earns him a £33,000 prize but also a spot in the upcoming Champion of Champions event in November.
