Alexander Isak wants to leave Liverpool for Barcelona

Liverpool striker Alexander Isak is keen on joining Barcelona just 12 months after his big-money move to Anfield.

It hasn’t been long since Alexander Isak swapped Newcastle United for Liverpool, but the Swedish striker could already be on the move again. According to a report from Fichajes, Isak is unhappy at Anfield and could push for an exit in pursuit of a move to Barcelona.

He is ready to push for a move away from the Merseyside club, and his preferred destination is the Catalan club. After a season full of struggles, he is looking for a move that will allow him to regain prominence in La Liga.

Isak’s Liverpool move hasn’t worked out

Isak made quite a name for himself while playing for Newcastle United. He established himself as one of the best strikers in the world. As a result, Liverpool went all out to sign him last summer. While the Magpies were reluctant to sell, the Swedish international forced an exit.

The Reds forked out close to €140 million to add him to their roster. While he was expected to significantly bolster their attack, the move hasn’t really worked out as Isak has struggled with injuries and hasn’t been able to hit top gear.

He has been involved in 16 games, racked up fewer than 800 minutes and has contributed towards just four goals. Isak is beleived to be frustrated by his current situation. With Liverpool also losing their edge in the Premier League, the Swedish striker now believes he needs a change. He seeks more favourable conditions to return to his best.

Isak wants Barcelona move

Barcelona is Isak’s priority destination. He feels the Catalan club is an ideal next step for him. Their style of play suits him, and with Robert Lewandowski in the final phase of his career, the 26-year-old could take over from the Polish international.

He has already asked his agents to explore a move. Barcelona certainly have a long-standing interest in him. While the Catalan giants would love to have him in their ranks, the finances involved could make it a very difficult deal. The English club will look to recoup a large part of what they had invested, and the Spanish club can’t really afford to pay that big a fee at this point.
