Borussia Dortmund open talks to re-sign Jadon Sancho, hopeful of player accepting a pay cut

Jadon Sancho has been consistently linked with a return to Germany in recent months as he looks to sort out his long-term future in the summer.

Jadon Sancho will be out of contract at Manchester United after the 2025/26 season, and the Red Devils have no plans to extend his stay. He is currently on loan at Aston Villa, and the West Midlands outfit are unlikely to sign him permanently either.

According to a report by Sky Germany, Borussia Dortmund have now opened talks to bring him back to Signal Iduna Park, and they are hoping the player will accept modest wages to complete the Bosman move in the summer transfer window.

Borussia Dortmund eye Sancho return

A return to Germany could be ideal for him, and his former club Borussia Dortmund are willing to provide him with an exit route. Sancho played his best football with the Bundesliga giants before his move to the Premier League, and returning to his comfort zone would be ideal for all parties.

The Englishman has always been regarded as a technically gifted player with a lot of potential, but the move to the Premier League has not worked out for him at all. He has failed with multiple clubs, and it would make sense for him to return to Germany now.

Will the English nightmare end this summer?

Jadon Sancho recorded nine goals and six assists in 58 Premier League appearances for Manchester United, and their decision to spend a substantial amount of money on him has backfired. The Red Devils are now set to lose him for free, and the signing will go down as one of their worst in recent history.

The Englishman was sent out on loan to Chelsea, where he showed improvement, scoring five goals and recording ten assists in 41 matches. However, the Blues decided against signing him permanently. At Aston Villa, he is yet to find the back of the net in the Premier League.

The England International has looked like a shadow of the player he was during his time in Germany. The 25-year-old was one of the best under-21 players in the world at Borussia Dortmund, and he was lighting up Europe with his dribbling, creativity in tight spaces, and decision-making in the final third. He recorded 50 goals and 64 assists in 137 appearances for the German club. He will be desperate to get back to their level once again.
