West Ham United can sign Federico Gatti for €25 million

Nuno Espirito Santo’s West Ham United can reportedly sign Juventus centre-back Federico Gatti for just €25 million.

Federico Gatti’s future has become a massive talking point amidst Juventus’s financial struggle. The Serie A giants might have to sanction his departure in the summer to comply with financial regulations, and it could be a massive boost for interested clubs.

According to Tuttosport via Sport Witness, West Ham United are keen on his signature, and they could sign the Italian centre-back for just €25 million. The Hammers seek more quality at the back, and the 27-year-old could be a sensational acquisition for them.

Juventus struck a deal with Frosinone for Federico Gatti at the start of 2022; he ended up making the move to the Turin club in the following summer. The player has been an integral part of their first team over the years, and he has featured in 131 matches, and has even contributed towards 13 goals.

While there has been a lot of talk about his future, Gatti remains an important part of their plans. However, Juventus might be forced to part ways with the Italian defender ahead of next season. His contract runs until 2030, but the upcoming transfer window could lead to his departure.

Juventus forced to sell Gatti

Juventus are struggling financially, and they need to bring in money to comply with financial regulations. UEFA rules state clubs can only incur a maximum loss of €5 million over three years, and it is extendable to €60 million only if covered by a capital increase. Juventus are under scrutiny because of that, and will have to part ways with players this summer on a priority basis.

They tried to raise €20-25 million from the sales of Timothy Weah and Samuel Mbangula last summer, but things did not go according to plan for them. As things stand, Federico Gatti’s departure now looks very likely.

The 27-year-old could be available for just €25 million, as the Old Lady look to raise funds on a priority basis. It is a massive boost for West Ham, who have been put on alert. The Hammers seek more quality at the back, and the experienced Italian centre-back can certainly help their cause.
